Venera Simonović was born on 08/22/76. in Sarajevo. She graduated Gymnasium and Civil Engineering Faculty in Sarajevo. Afterward she completed post-graduated study on the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology -IZIIS in Skopje, Macedonia in the field of earthquake action on aluminium and steel structures. She elaborate her PhD thesis on Civil Engineering Faculty on „Džemal Bijedić“ University in Mostar where the topic of the thesis is earthquake effects on masonry buildings strengthened with fibre reinforced concrete and mechanical dampers. Venera published great number of scientific papers in journals and conferences. She attended numerous professional specializations from Serbia, Macedonia to Germany, Italy and Switzerland. At the same time, she won the significant number of scholarships and awards; she also participated in numerous workshops and seminars. This year she completed the training program for persons who perform energy audits and energy certification of buildings in organization of CETEOR. For a longer time she is a member of the association of experts in the field of earthquake engineering and associations of thermoenergetical BiH.
Over fourteen years she was working as a responsible Structural Engineer, Consultant, Responsible for nostrification and Construction Supervisor in Energoinvest d.d. on large scale host and international projects such as hydropower and thermopower plants, substations and other. As a part of development programme of the United Nations-UNDP she was engaged as a civil engineer for quality assurance of the completed works on rehabilitation of public facilities after floods in 2014. Also, she was engaged on Faculty of Architecture University of Sarajevo on scientific fields Wooden and Steel Structures. Now she works at the Polytechnic University of Zenica – Department of Construction as a senior assistant on subjects: Statics of Structures II and Concrete Structures II. Currently performs duties of supervision during construction and reconstruction of facilities at the Institute for Construction of Canton.
Within the Institute for Standardization, Venera is a member of the technical committee BAS / TC 62 – Eurocodes – Design of steel, composite, wood and aluminum structures
